Day 1 Our journey takes us through Okahandja, where we will visit the wood-carver’s markets, and other historical sites. We continue north and, after lunch at Waterberg Plateau Park, we embark on an afternoon game-drive through the park to get a glimpse of buffalo and rhino. We will overnight at Waterberg Camp. Day 2 and 3 After an early breakfast, we leave Waterberg and travel to Otjiwarongo to visit the Crocodile Ranch. Then we continue to Tsumeb, where we will visit the museum and have lunch. Afterwards we carry on to Otjikoto Lake for spectacular views and a chance to stretch the legs. Our journey then takes us on to Etosha National Park, Namutoni Camp, and the first game-viewing of the afternoon at various water holes. We overnight at Namutoni Resort. At the break of dawn, after breakfast, we head out on an early-morning game-drive on our way to Halali Rest Camp. Another chance to employ your cameras and binoculars! Time for some serious bird- and game-watching, to see how many of the numerous species which inhabits the park, can be spotted. We travel on to Okaukeujo Camp, along various watering holes where more exciting game-viewing can be done. This, the last day in Etosha National Park, is also devoted to swimming, relaxing and/or hiking. We spend the night at Okaukeujo Lodge! Day 4 We leave Etosha National Park and travel south-west via Outjo to Damaraland to visit the Rock Finger and Ugab-Terrace before we continue via Khorixas to arrive at Twyfelfontein in the afternoon. There you can enjoy a well-deserved rest, a leisurely swim or a short hiking excursion to see the amazing rock-paintings before we return for the night to Khorixas Rest Camp. Day 5 and 6 After breakfast, we will enjoy excursions into the surrounding wilderness to see the desert-adapted elephants and other assorted wildlife that has adapted to these harsh conditions. We will also visit the Petrified Forest, Organ Pipes, the Burnt Mountain and Bushmen Rock Paintings. We continue to Swakopmund where we will spend the next two nights, visit various interesting places and relax after the hot desert trip next to the cool waters of the Atlantic ocean. On Day 6 we will visit Walvis Bay and see the myriad of interesting places this harbor-town has on offer. Day 7 and 8 We leave Swakopmund and drive to Sossusvlei via Walvis Bay and Solitaire through the extreme beauty of the Namib Desert landscape. We go dune-climbing at the vlei and you can see (and climb!) some of the largest dunes in the world and we also visit Dead Pan. Overnight two nights at Weltevrede Rest Camp After breakfast our tour takes us to Sesriem Canyon to enjoy the amazing formations created by water and wind erosion before we return to Weltevrede for the night. Day 9 and 10 Leaving Sossusvlei, we drive via Maltahohe, Helmeringhausen and Aus to the crayfish capital of Namibia, Luderitz. This old German town has a large variety of historical sites and buildings to be seen and photographed. During the next two days we will visit as many of them as possible, including the ghost town, Kolmanskop, as well as the Shark Island. Day 11 and 12 We leave Luderitz early and tackle the road to Fishriver Canyon where we will spend the next two days hiking and enjoying the views of this, the second-largest canyon in the world. We will take lodging at the Ai-Ais hot springs resort. Day 13 After breakfast, we depart from Ai-Ais and the Fishriver Canyon to Mariental and the Hardap Wildlife Resort where we will spend our last night before our return to Windhoek. Day 14 We conclude our tour on this day, returning to Windhoek during the late morning and you will again be deposited at your place of lodging. |
